Silent Needles, 2023 is a situated sculpture in the textile library of the Ratti Foundation. The work consists of a single video and a book cover installation, inspired by a visit to the Ratti factory. I was fascinated by the rhythmic choreography of thousands of needles for the weaving machine and how they were programmed to produce high quality textiles. I collected a needle from the factory and attempted to re-visualize the experience from the factory into the library, which is especially specialized in textile books. Considering the contrast between the loudness of the factory and the quietness of the library, I duplicated the needles in the image and extended the arrangement by folding the image and covering the existing books with them. I wanted the space to become more present and for the spectators to interact with the environment more actively.
